A useful fit for

A compact internal route for two SDI-capable sources when a host provides an M.2 2280 Type M PCIe Gen2 x2 slot; the evaluated arrangement is one SDI source at 1080p60. The two physical channels are useful when separate feeds matter, but this assessment does not promise both channels at peak rates.

The main tradeoff

This is not a full-size PCIe card, USB device or display passthrough unit. The MMCX breakouts, M.2 key/lane requirements, heat dissipation, SDI format exceptions and absent Mac driver all need checking before purchase.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can Dual SDI M.2 accept two feeds?

Magewell describes two SDI input channels and lists two MMCX-to-SDI breakouts. This review's conservative match is one 1080p60 feed; do not assume that two channels can each run at the published peak rate without a supported simultaneous mode table for your setup.

Is it suitable for an SDI source that needs dual-link 1080p60 10-bit?

Check the source standard closely. Magewell says the first link of dual-link 10-bit YCbCr 4:2:2 1080p50/59.94/60 is captured as 1080i, so the original progressive signal is not preserved as a progressive capture in that case.

Does it pass an SDI signal through to a monitor?

No SDI output or display-loop path is documented for this M.2 capture module. If retaining an onward monitor signal is essential, choose a product with an explicit output/passthrough specification and match that requirement separately.

Internal SDI capture · two inputs · M.2 PCIe Gen2 x2

The Eco Capture Dual SDI M.2 is for a computer that can accept an internal M.2 module and needs SDI capture rather than a portable USB interface. Magewell identifies part 11530, SKU 115300000, and two SD/HD/3G/2K SDI inputs. Its product page lists two MMCX-to-SDI breakout cables. That small connector detail matters: do not plan a direct BNC hookup from the card itself or assume unrelated MMCX cabling will fit. The U.S. MFR 11530 listing is an identity reference, not evidence of a current offer or package condition.

Two SDI inputs, with a cautious rate interpretation

Two physical capture channels can simplify a two-camera, replay or production workflow. The technical sheet sets an input raster ceiling of 2048×1080 and a general frame-rate ceiling of 144 fps, but those numbers are not a promise that both channels will sustain that rate at once. Magewell qualifies frame rate by PCIe bandwidth and its processing clock; for 1920×1080, its example tops out at about 80 fps. This assessment therefore treats a single 1080p60 feed as the conservative planning case. If the job depends on two simultaneous feeds, a nonstandard frame rate, or a particular 10-bit broadcast format, seek an explicit mode table for that combination before selecting it.

The same spec page flags meaningful SDI exceptions. It says only the first stream of a 3Gb-DS signal can be captured. For dual-link 10-bit YCbCr 4:2:2 at 1080p50/59.94/60, it describes capture of the first link represented as 1080i. Those details may be irrelevant to a simple camera feed, but they matter if an existing switcher or source is deliberately using dual-link or dual-stream transport. The word “SDI” alone does not establish that every SDI standard retains its original raster and sampling.

Check the M.2 slot before comparing frame rates

This is a 2280 Type M PCIe Gen2 x2 device, not an M.2 SATA drive, external USB card or full-height PCIe board. A host may have an M.2 socket whose lanes are reserved for storage, disabled in the relevant configuration or physically blocked by a nearby component. Confirm its PCIe wiring and operating support in the computer’s documentation. Magewell’s Eco-family FAQ also says the module uses an M-key PCIe connection and that chassis heat dissipation matters. No temperature result is claimed here; the enclosure has to provide an appropriate thermal environment.

Magewell lists Windows and Linux software support, including DirectShow or V4L2 paths, and names OBS among compatible applications. Those listings do not make every operating-system release, kernel, capture-app version or plugin configuration equivalent. Verify that the exact computer and application see each channel as intended. The family FAQ says there is no Mac driver, so this is not a Mac compatibility recommendation.

Capture only, not an SDI loop-through

The reviewed product and technical pages describe capture inputs; they do not list an SDI output or a monitor passthrough connection. If a production monitor must continue receiving the source, budget a separate routing device or select a card whose output behavior is explicitly documented. Capture rate and passthrough rate are different decisions; this model cannot be treated as a signal splitter because it has two input channels.

Within Magewell’s M.2 range, the Quad SDI M.2 increases input count but also asks for a Gen2 x4 host slot, and its four sockets likewise do not establish four peak-rate streams. The 12G SDI 4K Plus M.2 is a different one-channel route when an individual 4K60 SDI source is the priority. Neither comparison removes the need to match the source’s exact SDI format.

What to verify on the exact offer

Check the part number (11530), the presence of both MMCX-to-SDI breakouts, the host’s M.2 Type M PCIe Gen2 x2 connection, cooling and clearance, and the source’s raster, frame rate, bit depth and link standard. If your use case needs both channels at a particular rate, ask for support for that exact two-feed combination rather than multiplying a per-channel number. The evidence supports a capable compact SDI capture module; it does not supply hands-on reliability, thermal, latency or simultaneous maximum-rate test results.
