A useful fit for

A broadcast workstation requiring SDI or SMPTE 2110 HD capture, with a PCIe Gen 2 x4 slot and a clear plan for configurable SDI routing and 10G network video.

The main tradeoff

This is 3G-SDI/2110 HD hardware, not a 4K or HDMI capture device. SDI connector direction is configurable; do not assume the summaries of the SDI and network paths prove simultaneous four-source capture. Check port routing and concurrency in the chosen Desktop Video setup and software.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does this board capture an HDMI console or an SDI cable directly?

It has two direction-configurable 3G-SDI links and a separate 10GBASE-T SMPTE 2110 path. Select an exact workflow and verify how each connector is routed before purchase.

Is its 10G network port plug-and-play video capture?

No. The documented use is SMPTE ST 2110 broadcast video over an engineered managed network. Validate streams, switching, PTP clocking, multicast and application routing; a generic 10GbE port does not establish a working source chain.

Is 4K or OBS capture supported?

The selected HD models are specified to 1080p60, not 4K. OBS is not identified in the exact model evidence used here. Do not assume that a general Windows driver proves OBS support.

DeckLink IP/SDI HD combines configurable 3G-SDI connections with a 10GBASE-T SMPTE ST 2110 network path on one PCIe capture and playback card. The manufacturer describes two capture and playback channels over the 2110 connection and two direction-configurable 3G-SDI connectors. It supports HD video standards through 1080p60. This combination can matter in a broadcast workstation that moves between a traditional serial-digital feed and managed IP video, but the name should not be read as a promise of 4K capture or every possible SDI/IP channel arrangement at once.

Two distinct input paths

The physical SDI connectors can each be configured as an input or output. That is different from a permanently dedicated pair of SDI input ports. The spec lists SD/HD signal support and 16 channels of embedded audio. If your source is SDI, confirm the connector direction in Blackmagic Desktop Video Setup and identify which port, timing and audio channel map your application will use.

The RJ45 port is a separate 10GBASE-T interface for SMPTE 2110. Blackmagic’s family material describes ST 2110-20 video, traffic shaping, audio and ancillary data standards, precision timing and multicast. A 10GbE port alone is not enough to accept any IP camera stream: the producer, network switches, stream addressing, multicast rules, PTP clock and receiver configuration need to agree. That managed network can be a valuable part of a studio or remote production facility, but it is not a substitute for an SDI cable or the HDMI output of a console.

Blackmagic states that the 2110 port handles two input and two output channels, each up to 1080p60. It also describes capture and playback as simultaneous capabilities. The SDI section has two direction-configurable links. Those model facts are useful, but they are not a complete port-by-port concurrency matrix. This assessment does not add the separate interface counts together to promise four simultaneous recordings or assume a particular SDI-plus-IP combination is available in every software mode. For mixed workflows, confirm the exact routing plan in the current technical manual and application documentation.

HD means HD

DeckLink IP/SDI HD is positioned around 3G-SDI and HD 2110. The technical page lists SD and HD standards, including progressive rates through 1080p60. There is no supported 4K capture mode in the model information reviewed here. A source needing 2160p60, high-frame-rate 4K or HDMI input should be compared against a different board whose specific timing and physical inputs cover that requirement.

The public capture choices at this site let a visitor select SDI, but do not include a separate SMPTE 2110 network-source answer. The card’s actual 3G-SDI input path means it can match a true SDI requirement. When the input preference is left open, its network path can also be described in the model assessment. The open choice does not say that a visitor wanted 2110; it merely keeps the research comparison from excluding a card with more than one input route. A buyer should read the exact distinction rather than assume the quiz expressed network intent.

Host, OS and production software

The computer connection is PCI Express Gen 2 x4, compatible with x4, x8 and x16 slots. It needs an internal workstation/server with a suitable slot and room for the board. Blackmagic lists Windows, Mac and Linux support. For Mac, verify that the chosen Mac has a compatible PCIe expansion path; a USB-C or Thunderbolt socket alone is not the stated computer interface.

The software material names Blackmagic Media Express and other professional tools including DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro and Media Composer. The DeckLink IP family page also describes a Windows WDM driver. It does not name OBS Studio for this model. If OBS is essential, ask the software or card support teams about current device enumeration and SDI/2110 routing instead of treating the general driver as an OBS certification.

Who should shortlist it

This is most relevant when an existing broadcast system needs both a conventional 3G-SDI connection and an IP-video connection in one PCIe slot, and when the target format stays within HD. The IP portion may serve a managed network with synchronized sources; the SDI portion may receive a direct HD feed. That flexibility is useful on paper, but the card is more complex than a simple external converter because connector direction, network flow, timing, routing and software all need to be specified.

Compare it carefully with the two IP-only siblings. DeckLink IP HD uses copper 10GBASE-T without direct SDI input connectors; DeckLink IP HD Optical uses 10GBASE-LR fiber instead. IP/SDI HD is the sibling with both copper network video and configurable SDI. If you need optical fiber to the network switch, the Optical version is the relevant comparison; if your source itself is SDI, this model’s BNC connections are the material difference.

Checks before purchase

Verify the PCIe slot, low-profile/full-height fit, driver and application version. Check the SDI signal standard, connector directions, audio routing, required reference timing and whether one or more sources must be captured simultaneously. For 2110, ask the network engineer to confirm the streams, PTP grandmaster, switch capacity and multicast configuration. A video engineer should validate the precise software and channel plan before the card is ordered.
